Do ‘Astoria Pride’ events provide funding or volunteer support for the LCQC?

  • No. The event organizers that are currently using the ‘Astoria Pride’ name, North Coast Pride, have not provided financial or volunteer support to the LCQC since 2021. The LCQC was the original host and beneficiary of ‘Astoria Pride’ events until a conflict between board members resulted in an arbitration, which concluded in 2022.

  • We understand that this situation has caused confusion within the community. The LCQC Board formally requested that the event organizers currently using the name ‘Astoria Pride’ discontinue its use in order to prevent further misunderstanding. That request was declined. At that point, the LCQC moved forward with organizing its own events to continue fundraising efforts and support our mission. In 2024, North Coast Pride made a request for funds that were originally raised when ‘Astoria Pride’ operated as a fundraiser for the Q Center. The LCQC Board chose not to respond to that request, and there has been no further communication or collaboration between the parties to this day.
